The hour is changing
Another year on and our clocks will change once more.
Sunday 30th at 02.00 am our clocks will go forward by 1 hour.
It’s the sign, winter in name is truly here. Long nights, waking up in darkness and returning home from work in darkness. A gloomy concept of life for at least the next 4 months when we will then start to see our long nights draw out once more.
Don’t get me wrong, I like winter, the frosty mornings, the hazy sunshine when we get sun that is and a chance to wrap up with our wollies and boots, but our winters are just too long here in the UK.

The English concept of living through the winter, is to generally lock ourselves away and only venturing out for work and supplies.
When you think about it, it’s a very sad way to live and yes, I hear you say ”it’s too cold or its wet and blowing a gale” I get it, but all I will say is there are plenty of very cold countries where they dress correctly and meet-up with friends and family regularly.
With so much darkness around us, this can bring a dreaded curse on our psyche. Our mood changes, loneliness and depression can all creep in when we least expect it and play havoc with our well-being.
Try to recognise the signs, in other words, if you’re being a complete arse to those around you, then STOP!
If you feel something nasty creeping in, pickup the phone and call someone, anyone will do, even me if you wish.
Another good avenue is to wrap up warm and take yourself off for a walk in the country side. Connecting with nature is always a great way to ease your mind and in turn, will help your well-being.
Don’t ever be afraid to reach out if needed, please don’t feel you haven’t anyone to chat with.
