What is an Old Man?

In my view old men get a bad press, from both sexes, from young men we get the ‘dirty old man’ handle and from younger women the same and from mature women the ‘silly old man title’ or even worse, ‘stupid old man’.
Yes we still admire young women and attractive women of any age but this appreciation is misunderstood, we just get pleasure from seeing attractive women of any age and I sometimes want to go to them and say “Thank you for looking so good you have brightened my day” but of course we can’t do that nowadays, as much as we would like to.

But as men and women get older they find themselves needing help and getting help from lady professionals, I have a lady dentist, a lady chiropodist, my optician is a lady and my audiologist is a lady, the latter two from Specsavers where the uniform gives an added attraction! And my flu jab is administered from a lady.
All of these ladies are appreciated for their professionalism, for their kindness, their consideration for my well being but during the last year I have found a need for something more than just reaction to my failing eyesight, my inability to reach my feet and being told I am a deaf old coot.
I have felt the need for attention to my aching body, a muscle and joint stiffness particularly around my shoulders as a result of playing a musical instrument. Massage was obviously needed and I tried a few professionals, ladies again, and finally settled on a Thai practitioner who works tirelessly on me for 60 and sometimes 90 minutes. I visit perhaps once every six weeks.
She too is an absolute professional taking care to avoid my ‘naughty bits’ and keeping them covered at all times. I undress with her out of the room and she enters and drapes me and even when she asks me to turn over she holds the drape in front of her eyes to avoid seeing what, perhaps, is not a pretty sight.
She is pretty, well presented and with tasteful make up and we part with a kiss and a hug which says thank you from me to her. She is another professional bound by the need to be protected at all times from the pressures of modern expectations of how treatments should be conducted, some by professional governing bodies others by good practice.
You may wonder where all this is going but I want to speak about another professional lady I met recently whose practice is run along the same lines as those others I have mentioned, she is her own receptionist, cashier and practitioner. She upholds high professional standards, not imposed by a governing body, but by her own set of rules and behaviour.
A person who responds to my needs just as my optician or dentist does, a person who conducts the treatment in the same way, making sure I am comfortable, warm and relaxed, her surgery or treatment room call it what you will, is a haven of peace, cleanliness is paramount and her own presentation is delightful.
As with other practitioners she tells you what she is to do and explains it, my first visit was calm and relaxed, I was made to feel special and it was all very special, I felt a sort of cleansing experience where I responded to treatment that my body clearly needed, a biological need executed with all the care in the world, no sense of guilt or the sordid, just a sense of receiving treatment from a professional lady who has high standards of practice in treating what is just another human health need.
Please don’t ask yourself if you should visit Sue, just go! Soon!
