Grammar, Spelling, Punctuations?
Grammar, Spelling, Punctuations?
Yes, it has been brought to my attention once or twice since I’ve been blogging that my punctuations i.e semi colon, comma etc. etc. have’t been correct and not to forget the odd spelling mistakes here and their.
From reading my posts, you probably have seen these common mistakes and possibly had a chuckle here and there. 😊
You see, “grammar and all that jazz” as you probably have already guessed, has never been one of my strongest points but I do try.

Gramma and spelling
When I was at school many years ago lol grammar and spelling never seemed to stick, I found myself doubting every word I wrote. Somedays I could spell it correctly and other days it seemed as if my brain had been taken over by a Martian from outer space lol
It was a very embarrassing time for me growing up, in school you can’t hide your downfalls and we all know or remember how cruel children can be to one another in the classroom.
Believe it or not, two weeks on from leaving school I landed a job down the dock as part secretary and Important/Export clerk. I’m afraid to say they didn’t have spell check back then and it was extremely difficult for me, as I tried to produce office letters dramatically correct. The company I worked for, they were very good to me and patient, they probably kept me as long as they did because I shined in other areas. I had a great telephone manner and I was very good at getting good quotes, the clients would call me up directly. I had found my niche, and it certainly wasn’t secretarial work, its was sales.
Over the years I have learned how to adapt and now when people point out a mistake, I can often find the funny side and brush it off so no harm done, it’s all part of growing. As i’ve been writing this, a true event flashed into my Martian brain so I have to tell you…
One of my first businesses abroad was a bar/restaurant, I had done it up with nice furniture, drapes and even had a tiffany half circular entrance canopy, so not your typical cheap Charlie english bar that you see a lot of when your abroad. Yes, I offered the typical Sunday roast and the menu was varied, all fresh and home cooked. The bar was doing well and being a lover of music and signing I invested in a professional Karaoke system for Friday and Saturday night entrainment. This became a huge success and every day I would chalk up my huge black board (5ft x 3ft) which hung on the outside wall, taking extreme care to make sure all spellings were correct.
This particular day, a couple were walking by and popped there head in and said “I just wanted to let you know you’ve spelt xyz wrong” Now i’m a lot more worldly and able to think on my feet, I replied “yes, thank you, I did this to see if people were reading my board” from that day onwards people would come along, i’m sure, just read my board and chuckle. It was a good Marketing ploy and I stopped worrying about my spelling so much.
All I can say now is “thank god for spell check and predictive text” even though that has a mind of it’s own sometimes lol
All joking aside, apologies for my misgivings but this is who I am and I don’t have the funds to have my stories proof read before release so for now, please, chuckle, forgive as you read and keep smiling! 😊
Thanks for reading my post and hopefully it’s brought a smile to you on this miserable day…
As always take care of you and yours,
Sue x
