Hi everyone,

Did you have a good Bank Holiday? Mine was a bit strange, I wasn’t feeling too great for a few days and called 111 on Sunday morning just to be sure I wasn’t having a moment. They were great and asked me a few question of which I answered and then dropped the bomb shell that they thought I needed to be tested for the virus. I booked my test for a drive through on Sunday for 2pm and received my results via text last night with the all clear! Great news and a very prompt service. So it’s official,  I am Covid free 😁

Did you know –

• If you place your bananas in the fridge they will last longer even though there skins turn black
• If you cut off the bottom of your banana and peel it from that end the stringy bits peel with the skin
• Sunflowers can help clean radioactive soil. Japan is using this to rehabilitate Fukashima. Almost 10,000 packets of sunflower seeds have been sold to the people of the city.
• There is actually a difference between coffins and caskets – coffins are typically tapered and six-sided, while caskets are rectangular
• The most productive advert of all time was for apple, only shown once during the Super Bowl and lasted 90 seconds.

• A farsighted person if they punch a pinhole in cardboard and peer through it, they will be able to read small print.
• If you place your portable radio/speaker on top of a jar you will get a more tuneful sound.

• Russia was founded by vikings, a viking called Oleg.
• All blue-eyed people have a common ancestor. Blue eyed pigmentation is the result of a mutation on the OCA2 gene, which controls melanin production. Recently scientists have tracked the mutation to a single human who lived somewhere around 6,000-10,000 years ago. Before that, brown was the only eye colour.
• The Eiffel Tower is shorter in winter than in summer due to the expansion heat in the summer.
• A lion’s roar is louder than the average petrol lawnmower. A roar from a lion or tiger registers  approx 114 decibels. Louder enough to be heard up to 5 miles away.
• The real Buddha isn’t the common image depicted, he was actually incredibly skinny because of self-deprivation.
• At birth, a baby panda is smaller than a mouse.
• Iceland does not have a railway system.
• If you translate “Jesus” from Hebrew to English, the correct translation is “Joshua”. The name “Jesus” comes from translating the name from Hebrew, to Greek, to Latin, to English.

• Footprints left on the moon’s surface will last for a million years. The moon doesn’t have any atmosphere such as wind or rain to clear the surface. If you had a powerful enough telescope, you could see the tracks and footprints left from the first moon landing.
• You can survive longer without food than you can without sleep. It’s reported that a human being can survive for up to two months without food. The longest a person has been recorded to go without sleep is only 11 days. Going 24 hours without sleep impairs your cognitive ability as much as a blood alcohol content of .1%.

• An Italian banker, Gilberto Baschiera is considered a modern-day Robin Hood. Over the course of 7 years, he secretly diverted 1 million euros to poorer clients from the wealthy ones so they could qualify for loans. He made no profit and avoided jail in 2018 due to a plea bargain.
• Hitler’s nephew earned a Purple Heart fighting for the Allies in World War II.
• A toddler could swim easily inside a blue whale’s arteries. The sheer size of blue whales is difficult to imagine. When comparing the heart of a human to the heart of a blue whale the average size of a humans heart is about the same size as that individuals fist and weighs less than a pound in most healthy adults, while a blue whales heart is comparable to a Volkswagen beetle in terms of size and can weigh more than 1,300 lbs.
