You will probably know of her through her No. 1 singles “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face“, “Killing Me Softly with His Song“, “Feel Like Makin’ Love“; and “Where Is the Love” and “The Closer I Get to You“, two of her many duets with Donny Hathaway.
April 2018 as Roberta stood back stage ready to receive a lifetime achievement award by The Jazz Foundation of America at the Apollo Theatre. Amidst a concert featuring Cassandra Wilson, Alabama Shakes lead singer Brittany Howard, Nona Hendryx and more. Roberta Flack felt dizzy and collapsed backstage, she was rushed to hospital. The concert went on without her.
A number of months later after recovering from her stroke, she is ready to sing again. In 2018, Ms. Flack retired from touring and continues to make special appearances. What an inspirational women to us all.
