We are a very open couple, we have sex 2 or 3 times a month and lately every time we do we notice a smell. After cleaning up and showering the smell isn’t  around and we carry on until the next time and it all starts again. Any advice or thoughts on this would help because I know its not an STI!

Thank you for your comments, feedback is always great to receive and I will look forward to meeting you both in the future. Your question, I will try to offer you some advice but please be a wear I am not a medical professional.

Having done a little research, it sounds like you have Bacteria Vaginosis (BV), very noticeable during and after sex with a smelly odour and this is very easy to confirm. I believe supermarkets sell home kits which test for both Thrush and BV for a price of approximately £15.00 once you get your answer confirmed you can then treat the diagnosis. If BV is confirmed you will need a course of antibiotics, you can either go to your doctor for a prescription or there are chemists online. Chemists online will need you to go through a questionnaire and once the chemist is satisfied with your answers will grant you access to purchase the correct medication.

Dont be alarmed, Bacterial vaginosis usually called BV is a fairly common bacterial infection. It happens when the different kinds of healthy bacteria in your vagina get out of balance and grow too much. BV is often caused by Gardnerella Vaginalis, the most common type of bacteria in your vagina. Anything that changes the chemistry of your vagina’s pH balance can mess with bacteria levels and lead to infection, like douching or using vaginal deodorants and other irritating product.
