Good Morning,

I mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to freshen up my bathroom with a drop of paint I found lurking in my shed.

Like all jobs, having the right tools and the preparation is key to a satisfactory outcome. Theres no point in painting my bathroom to make it look fresher when you have an eyesore staring back at you.

My chrome wall mounted radiator has seen better days with rust, something I inherited when I moved in.  I always thought I would replace it when the bathroom suit was replace. Under current lockdown measures that now seems impossible so, I was scouring the net looking for ideas when I came across this. Apparently a trick of the trade and I thought I would give it ago after all, my radiator couldn’t look any worse.

My chrome wall mounted radiator, not looking it’s best

What do I need

  1. White wine vinegar
  2. Steel wool grade 0000
  3. Aluminium kitchen foil
  4. Cloth
  5. Drop of water
  6. Elbow grease, lot’s of

No expense needed as I have all of this already

Method of Top Tip

  1. Wipe the chrome radiator down with white wine vinegar, this reacts with the rust
  2. Take your ordinary kitchen foil (aluminium foil) and wet it with water. this will help lubricate the friction
  3. Using your elbow grease, rub the rusty area and rub and rub
  4. When you can’t rub anymore, wipe down with a clean wet cloth
  5. Take your steel wool and buff up to reveal your hard work.
