Thinking out loud

Good afternoon,

I’m sure like so many of you, on hearing the sad news of the passing of our queen on Thursday 8th September, you will find yourselves with some kind of emotion. Unexpectedly, these emotions seem to have arisen from nowhere. We are not sure why we feel this way but so many of us do, for our queen was the heart of the united kingdom.

Our country with its royal family has been the envy of many a country over the years. Queen Elizabeth was definitely a women of her word, giving her life so selflessly to duty and with a work ethic like no other right up until her passing. She will undoubtably be missed by so many and a vary hard act to follow.

From my words here, you may think i’m a royalist, but I would simply call it respect.

I was watching a vlog on YouTube last night that was streaming live, the couple with a fair age gap between them, him being the elder of the two were chatting when the conversation turned to the death of our queen. He voiced, he was sad to hear of the queens passing and what she stood for and expressed how sad it was. The women, obviously of a different generation and although she said the news was sad, she also expressed that she thought the monarchy should finish with the queens passing. She continued, “think how much money this country would save on ceremonies and the changing of our coinage etc. if we didn’t have a monarch”.

I couldn’t help thinking how small minded and naive this woman words were, I screamed at my laptop and wanted to comment but thought better of it. Now on reflection, I was wrong to keep quiet, I should have said something.

For me, it seems that this generation do not get the whole picture, for there are so many pieces to every puzzle that without one vital piece the task in question can never be completed.

I ask, where has the respect gone for your elders and for one another, a kind word or a smile to a stranger. People these days only seem to be interested in what they can get, whats in it for them. I don’t think it’s a great look, do you?

Yes, our monarchy costs our country every year and it’s mostly paid for by the people but, the royals, they bring so much more revenue into our country though tourism etc every year. When government have sticky moments or need to cement certain policies throughout the world, who do they call on to work the magic and soften the path, It is indeed our monarchy. Without them working hard behind the scenes on so may occasions and hosting diplomats from all over the world, our way of life could have been so different.

Since 2019 we as a country have endured so much, from Brexit, Covid with so much personal/financial  loss, Price rise of Petrol/Diesel, Ukraine War, Cost of living crisis, New Prime Minister, Energy hikes, Inflation, Investments shrinking, Start of a global recession, Death of Queen Elizabeth II and I can’t help but wonder, what is coming next for us all.

Our countries one stable has been queen Elizabeth II for over 70 years, now she has passed we have King Charles III. Will he be a good king, yes, i’m sure he will be. He has been in training all his life but I don’t believe he will be able to command the same respect from around the world as our late queen did on so many occasions.

We are a strong nation, taking what may on the chin and turning the other cheek, but if we respectfully stand together, then we could and can be a great nation.

Now I wonder, should we be worried in these global uncertain times?
