2nd Lockdown Approaches

Hello readers,

How are you all doing under the circumstances? I popped out yesterday just to the industrial estate and the whole area was manic. It was gridlocked everywhere with people doing there Christmas shopping early.

This brings me here-

England is going into a second lockdown on Thursday the 5th November and I understand the need for this even though it will crucify a lot of us. The prime minister has told us this lockdown is just for one month?, he says we will come out on the 2nd December.

Here goes my logical thinking once more. I con’t be the only one who has thought of this!

The whole reason we are going into lockdown for the second time is to stop the transmission of the virus and to reduce the ‘R’ rate.

If and it’s a big if, he relinquishes lockdown on the 2nd December, surly this will have an adverse effect?

Normally this time of year is the busiest foot traffic within our shops, people will be out in their masses trying to catch up on Christmas shopping, giving this the perfect time for the virus to spread exponentially. This will put us all back at the beginning of this lockdown and we will probably find ourselves having to repeat this again!

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want this lockdown like so many of you, I have had to cancel all my forward appointments which hurts when you have started to recover from the 1st lockdown. My logic is this – if I have to stop work on the 5th and not earn for a month to safe lives, why should I have to repeat this again because the lockdown wasn’t sufficient this time around.

This is what happens when you are trying to play both side of the coin. You either go into lockdown to stop and reduce this virus for the correct length of time and save lives or you worry about the economy and don’t save lives.

Surly a month of lockdown isn’t going to be enough to reduce this virus sufficiently so why bother. You either do it correctly or don’t do it at all and stop messing with so many peoples livelihoods, don’t you agree??

I understand that some of you won’t agree with my logic, you will be thinking that the shops need the Christmas rush to survive but if the government steps up and stops throwing money in the wrong places, we would all survive!

Comments are open if you would like to have your say.

Stay safe people and take care of you and yours,

Sue x
